Jax Goldsmith is a husband-and-wife jewellery business built from the ground up by us, Jax and Kevin.
Our story is one of craftsmanship, resilience and the courage to begin again.
Jax’s journey as a goldsmith began more than 35 years ago in the coastal town of Swakopmund, Namibia. There, she completed her apprenticeship under master goldsmith Immo Böhlke, learning the discipline, precision and patience that continue to guide her hands today.
Her work combines the exacting standards of traditional German goldsmithing with the warmth, character and natural beauty of her Namibian heritage. Working in sterling silver, gold and rose gold, Jax creates jewellery that is carefully considered, expertly made and filled with meaning.
After spending many years working in established jewellery houses, Jax stepped away from the industry for a time. However, the desire to create never left her. She eventually returned to the work she loved with a renewed sense of purpose and a determination to build something of her own.
That decision marked the beginning of Jax Goldsmith.
In 2023, we started with a small stall at the Ballito Farmers Market. There were no large investors, elaborate premises or shortcuts, just a shared vision, years of experience and a willingness to work hard.
Together, we slowly built the business one market, one customer and one piece of jewellery at a time. What began as a modest market stall has grown into a trusted local jewellery brand, with an online store and regular appearances at pop-up markets throughout Ballito, Kloof and the greater Durban area.
We remain proudly small, independent and family-run. This allows us to offer something increasingly rare: genuine personal service and jewellery made by people who care deeply about both the craft and the person who will wear it.
Jax specialises in custom, one-of-a-kind pieces that reflect the stories, memories and individuality of each client. She takes the time to listen, understand and guide each person through the creative process. Whether she is making an engagement ring, transforming inherited jewellery or creating a personal treasure to mark an important moment, every piece is approached with intention, care and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
For us, jewellery is never simply an accessory. It can celebrate love, honour a memory, represent a new beginning or become part of a family’s story for generations.
