Custom Jewellery Design Process

At Jax Goldsmith, we create custom jewellery that is designed around your ideas, style and budget. Whether you are creating a new piece, redesigning existing jewellery or looking for something completely unique, Jax will guide you through each stage of the process.

1. Initial Consultation

The process begins with a personal consultation with Jax.

During the consultation, you can discuss your ideas, preferred design, metal, gemstones, budget and any existing jewellery or materials you would like incorporated into the piece.

You are welcome to provide photographs, sketches or examples for inspiration.

2. Design Confirmation

Following the consultation, Jax will work with you to finalise the design and specifications of your jewellery.

Production will only begin once the design details have been confirmed. Customers are responsible for checking that all agreed details, including spelling, engraving, dimensions and stone choices, are correct before approving the design.

Changes requested after production has started may result in additional costs and could extend the completion timeframe.

3. Quotation and Approval

Once the design has been confirmed, you will receive a detailed quotation for approval.

The quotation may include:

Design and manufacturing costs
Metal and gemstone costs
Engraving or specialist services
Any additional finishing or setting requirements

Production will begin once the quotation has been accepted and any required deposit or payment has been received.

Please note that quotations are based on the agreed design and may change if you request alterations, additional stones or other changes after approval.

4. Production

Once your quotation has been approved, your custom piece will enter our production queue.

Production typically takes between 3 days and 3 weeks, depending on:

The complexity of the design
The number of jobs already in production
The availability of metals, gemstones or other materials
Whether engraving, stone setting or specialist work is required

Pieces containing gemstones, detailed engraving, intricate settings or highly customised components may take longer.

Any estimated completion date is a guideline rather than a guaranteed deadline. We will keep you informed should an unexpected delay occur.

5. Completion and Collection

You will be notified via WhatsApp as soon as your custom jewellery is complete and ready for collection.

Please wait until you have received confirmation before arriving to collect your piece.

Courier delivery may also be arranged where required. Courier charges and any optional insurance will be for the customer’s account unless otherwise agreed.

Custom Design Payments

A deposit may be required before production begins, with the remaining balance payable before or upon collection.

Custom-made and personalised jewellery cannot usually be cancelled, exchanged or refunded once production has started, except where the item is defective or where otherwise required by law.

Existing Jewellery and Customer-Supplied Materials

We may be able to incorporate your existing gold, gemstones or jewellery into a new design, subject to an assessment by Jax.

Customer-supplied stones and materials are used at the customer’s risk. While we take every reasonable precaution, older gemstones, previously worn jewellery and supplied materials may contain hidden damage, weakness or flaws that are not visible before work begins.

Any risks identified during the consultation will be discussed with you before production proceeds.

Aftercare

Your custom jewellery should be treated with care and may require occasional cleaning, polishing, checking or maintenance.

We will provide guidance on how best to care for your piece, particularly where it contains delicate stones, fine settings or detailed finishes.
